Day 80

I spoke too soon. About 20 minutes after I put the positive vibes out that we were in the clear, Edi-Rae projectile vomited everywhere. It was massive. I couldn’t believe it. What is going on. I called Nick out so he could clean it up and I could take her to shower. She was so upset. I sat with her in the shower to calm her down and next thing I know she shit diarrhoea all over me. Here I am in the shower with my screaming baby covered in shit thinking what the actual hell is going on. Everyone tried to assure me it was just the milk and she would be fine. She ended up okay for the next couple of hours and then it was time to get in the van for a 45 minute drive to our next destination. All was well until about 20 minutes in to the drive. Edi-Rae started whinging and spat her dummy out then proceeded to vomit all over herself and all over the van. Again she was hysterical. We pulled over and cleaned her up then had a bit of a stop and cuddle before we finished the trip. We arrived at the next hotel thank god. We were too early to check in to our rooms so had a walk around. It was SO hot, the kids weren’t handling it at all. About half an hour after we get there Nick smelled something. He checked Paddy's nappy and it was full of watery diarrhoea. We had to lay him on the grass as there was nowhere else and Paddy was screaming as the poo was so acidic it had burnt his bum. Our nappy cream was packed in a suitcase at this point as well and he was yelling out “cream cream”. We felt so awful. We were pretty hungry and still had an hour before our rooms were ready so found a place to eat. We ordered some food and were chatting then I smelt another poo. It was Edi-Rae. I took her to the bathroom to change her nappy and it was another diarrhoea and she screamed in pain as I changed her as her poo burnt her bum as well. She was beside herself. I got back to the table and rocked her in the pram and she dozed off to sleep. The poor girl had no energy left after a while day of gastro in such hot heat. We finally got to the room and all slept in the aircon until late in the afternoon. The diarrhoea continued over the next 4 nights of our stay and Edi-Rae slept more and more, produced less and less wet nappies and ate less and less. I felt really worried she was dehydrated so we kept up the fluids and ice-blocks as we counted down the hours to being home close to good healthcare.
