The age old question, 'if it isn't sunny I don't need sunscreen right?'
We often tend to associate sunburn and skin damage with the shining sun but we need to always be aware of the damage UV rays can do.
So.. do you need to use sun protection in Winter? ...... YES!
You can still get sunburnt in Winter, or on cloudy and rainy days!
In many areas of Australia, UV levels are 3 or above during the Winter months. Even though the sun may not be shining, it is important to wear a broad spectrum SPF 30+ or higher to protect from UV rays.
Due to their delicate skin, children and babies are at added risk of sunburn and skin damage. Exposure to UV radiation during the first 15 years greatly increases the risk of developing skin cancer later in life.
This is why I created Willy - to teach kids how important sunscreen is and to help parents make it fun!
